LAPIZ LAZULI

Lapiz Lazuli is one of the most valued crystals and has been mined for thousands of years. It was originally discovered at the ‘Sar-i-Sang deposit’ in Afghanistan and was mined from the same location for over 7,000 years. Lapiz Lazuli belongs to one of the world’s oldest mines and is considered to be one of the most precious and in-demand crystals in the history of mankind. The Lapiz stone falls under the family of Metamorphic rocks, meaning its composition is made of lazurite, calcite, sodalite, and pyrite. The blue color of Lapiz Lazuli comes from lazurite and the golden color, sparkly sheen, and cloudiness come from calcite, sodalite, and pyrite. 

Lapiz Lazuli’s meaning is strongly related to gods, royalty, and spirituality and has both spiritual and physical significance in cultures from all over the world. This stone is used in various things from medicinal to makeup like medicinal elixirs and natural eye shadows. Even many of the blues used in paintings during the medieval period, illuminated manuscripts, and Renaissance panels, were derived from this gemstone.

This stone is related to two chakras namely- the third eye chakra and the throat chakra. The indigo and purple shades of Lapiz Lazuli connect it to the third eye chakra.
